Private transfer from Prague to Vienna

The drive from Prague to Vienna is one of our most-requested routes — and one of the easiest. It covers roughly 330 kilometres of well-kept motorway and takes about four and a half hours door to door, with a comfort stop along the way. You travel city centre to city centre with no train changes, no luggage limits and no schedule to catch: you choose the pickup time, we quote a fixed price upfront, and an English-speaking driver does the rest. The route runs south-east through Moravia and crosses into Austria near Mikulov, a quiet wine town that makes a pleasant break. Whether you are heading to Vienna for business, a connecting flight or a few days of museums and coffee houses, this is the calm way to do it.

What to expect on the journey

Your driver collects you from your Prague hotel, apartment or the airport at the time you choose. From the city the route joins the D1 motorway and heads south-east past Brno, Moravia's second city, before turning towards the Austrian border. The roads are modern, multi-lane and well-maintained for the entire trip, so the ride is smooth and quiet.

The border crossing near Mikulov is straightforward. The Czech Republic and Austria are both in the Schengen Area, so there are no routine passport checks — usually just a sign and a change of road markings. You should still carry your passport or national ID card, as police can run occasional spot checks.

We build in one comfort stop, typically after about two hours, for coffee, a snack or simply to stretch. If you would like, the Mikulov stop can be extended into a proper break among the vineyards, or we can take a longer scenic detour via Český Krumlov for an extra fee. Total driving time is around four and a half hours; allow a little more if you add sightseeing. Your driver tracks traffic and adjusts the route as needed so you arrive relaxed and on time.

Vehicle options and pricing

Every Prague–Vienna transfer is a private booking — just your party, no sharing. You choose between two vehicles.

The Premium Sedan carries up to 3 passengers with 3 large suitcases and starts at €549 for the one-way trip. It is the right choice for couples, solo travellers and business trips. The Premium SUV carries up to 4 passengers with 4 large bags and a little more legroom, from €729 one-way — more comfortable for families or anyone travelling with extra luggage, ski gear or child seats.

The price you are quoted is the price you pay. It already includes fuel, motorway tolls and vignettes, road taxes, parking, bottled water, phone chargers and child seats on request. There are no surcharges for night pickups or for tracking a delayed flight. Optional extras — an extended sightseeing stop, a scenic detour, a return leg — are quoted clearly before you book. Send a booking request and we confirm availability and payment instructions directly. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pickup.

Things to do in Vienna

Vienna rewards a slow visit. The historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is best explored on foot, starting from St. Stephen's Cathedral and the pedestrianised lanes around it. The Hofburg, the former imperial palace, and the grand Ringstrasse boulevard give you the Habsburg city at its most theatrical.

A little outside the centre, Schönbrunn Palace and its gardens are worth half a day on their own, and the Belvedere holds Klimt's 'The Kiss'. When you need a pause, the city's coffee houses are an institution in their own right.

If you are making a day trip rather than staying over, your driver can wait and bring you home the same evening, or you can split the journey with stops. Mikulov and the South Moravian wine villages sit right on the route; the Wachau valley, with its riverside abbeys and vineyards, is a short extension from Vienna. Tell us what you would like to see and we will plan the timing around it.

Why book a private transfer over the train or bus

There is a fast train between Prague and Vienna, and it is a fine option for a solo traveller travelling light. But once you are two or more, or carrying real luggage, a private transfer usually makes more sense.

You are collected at your door and dropped at your destination — no taxis to the station at either end, no platform changes, no lifting bags onto luggage racks. You leave exactly when you want to, not when the timetable says. The price is fixed for the whole car, so for three or four people it is often comparable to four train tickets. And the journey itself is calmer: a quiet private vehicle, your own conversation, a stop where you choose. For families with children, for business travellers with an early meeting, or for anyone who simply does not want to think about logistics, the door-to-door transfer is the easy answer.

Reverse route, stopovers and travel options

You can book the same private transfer in reverse, from Vienna to Prague, with the same door-to-door pickup, fixed vehicle price and direct confirmation. Return transfers are useful for airport connections, multi-city holidays and business trips where timing matters more than stitching together local taxis and public transport.

Stopovers can be added when the schedule allows: a lunch break, castle visit, wine town, scenic viewpoint or time to collect keys from accommodation. Tell us the preferred stop in the booking request and we will confirm the extra time and price before the trip is final.

Trains and buses are usually best for one traveller with a small bag. A private transfer is stronger when you are two to four people, travelling with luggage, children or a tight arrival window. Compared with a taxi, the advantage is the confirmed long-distance price, planned route and a driver who is expecting an intercity journey rather than a short urban fare.

Prague to Vienna — FAQ

How long does the drive from Prague to Vienna take?

About four and a half hours of driving for the roughly 330-kilometre route, plus one short comfort stop. Allow extra time if you add a sightseeing stop in Mikulov or a scenic detour via Český Krumlov.

Do we need passports to cross into Austria?

There are no routine border checks — the Czech Republic and Austria are both in the Schengen Area. You should still carry a valid passport or national ID card, as occasional spot checks do happen.

Can we stop along the way?

Yes. A short comfort stop is included. Mikulov, a wine town right on the route, makes an easy longer break, and a scenic detour via Český Krumlov can be added for an extra fee — just ask when you book.

What does the price include?

Everything for the drive: fuel, motorway tolls and vignettes, road taxes, parking, bottled water, chargers and child seats on request. The quoted fixed price has no hidden surcharges.

Can you pick us up from Vienna Airport or a Prague hotel?

Yes — we collect from any address, hotel or airport at either end. For airport pickups we track your flight, so a delay does not cost you anything.

How do we pay?

The website sends a booking request rather than taking payment online. We confirm availability directly, then send payment instructions or agree payment with your driver. A VAT invoice is available for business travellers.

Do you offer the return trip from Vienna to Prague?

Yes. Book the return at the same time and we will quote both legs together. You can also book one-way only.

Is the price per person or per car?

Per car. The fixed price covers the whole vehicle and your whole party, up to 3 passengers in the Premium Sedan or 4 in the Premium SUV.

Prague to Salzburg is a longer haul — about 470 kilometres and four and a half hours of driving — but it is one of the most scenic transfers we run, and a private car is by far the most comfortable way to do it. The route heads south through Bohemia, often by way of Český Krumlov, and crosses into Austria towards Linz before reaching Mozart's city at the foot of the Alps. You travel door to door at the time you choose, with a fixed price agreed upfront and an English-speaking driver who knows the road. With no train changes and room for skis, cases or a family's worth of luggage, it is an easy start to an Alpine holiday or a Salzburg city break.

Český Krumlov, often searched as Cesky Krumlov, is the fairytale of South Bohemia — a UNESCO-listed town wrapped in a bend of the Vltava river, with a castle, cobbled lanes and red rooftops. The private transfer from Prague takes about 170 kilometres and two and a half hours, south through the Bohemian countryside on good roads. It is one of our most popular routes both as a one-way transfer and as a full day trip with the driver waiting while you explore. You choose the pickup time, we quote a fixed price upfront, and an English-speaking driver does the rest. With no train changes and full luggage space, it is the easiest way to reach this small, much-loved town.

Prague to Budapest is our longest route — about 530 kilometres and five hours of driving — and the private car is the most comfortable way to cover it. The drive runs south-east, usually skirting Bratislava, and crosses two borders on the way to the Hungarian capital. You choose the pickup time, we quote a fixed price upfront, and an English-speaking driver handles the motorways, tolls and navigation across all three countries. With no train changes, full luggage space and comfort stops where you want them, it is far easier than the rail connection. Whether Budapest is your destination or a stop on a longer Central European trip, this transfer takes the logistics off your plate.
